Welcome to Taylor Early Childhood Center

My name is Charissa Kappler, and I am proud to be the Taylor Early Childhood Center director.  I started my career at Dunklin R-5 in 2008, the first year the center was established.  Before Becoming the directory, I was a parent educator, teacher, and process coordinator.  In 2014, I graduated from Missouri Baptist University with my Maters of Education Administration, and I have been the director for five years.

Our school was named the Early Childhood Program of the Year in 2019 and 2021.  The Missouri School Board Association's awards are a reflection of our incredible staff members, and I'm grateful to work with them.

Teachers work hard on academics as well as building student character.  Taylor's Character Education words are Respect, Honestly, Responsibility, and Compassion.  Teachers, parents, and staff members work together to help our students understand how their choices and actions can make a difference.  Education young students about feelings and social clues will give them some necessary tools and resources to self-regulate.  In our hallway, we have a mural that reads, "The sun will rise, and we can try again."  It is a gentle reminder that whenever our students have a rough day, tomorrow is always a new day, and we can try again.

When you begin at Taylor Early Childhood Center, we know it is your first experience with school.  We always strive to make it a positive experience for you and your child.  We love to see families participate in their child's education.  Studies show that parent involvement coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success in the classroom.

My mission is to create a warm and inviting environment for all students to learn and grow.  I get excited watching students blossom in all areas as they get ready for kindergarten.
